Who knew that at forty, Zoe would be bold enough to walk solo, 630 miles, despite a bag
full of hang-ups, phobias, and imposter syndrome? SHE certainly didn’t. Zoe waited fifteen years before embracing the South West Coast Path, and, what was supposed to be just one walk, turned into multiple adventures and thousands of miles.
Zoe Langley-Wathen is a writer, speaker, and midlife adventure seeker who believes life begins when you step out of your comfort zone (and preferably into hiking boots). At forty, despite being terrified, she set out solo on a life-changing adventure along the South West Coast Path and hasn’t looked back. She’s since completed many iconic long-distance routes, including becoming the first woman to walk the Wales Coast Path, and most recently a 120-mile solo trek from Somerset to Cornwall. Over
fourteen years walking, Zoe has been featured on ITV, BBC Radio, and in national women’s magazines, sharing her passion for resilience and adventure. An RGS fellow, co-author of The Biggest Book of Yes and host of the triple award-nominated Head Right Out podcast, Zoe uses her storytelling skills and creative challenges to inspire others to be braver than they think. Her debut memoir, 630 Miles Braver – Midlifing on the South West Coast Path, was published April 2025.
“Long-distance walking is the magic that reboots my confidence and kicks my midlife doubts to the kerb, again and again.”
