Note: This session will be taking place in the Pizey room, which is on the first floor. A lift is available for people with reduced mobility however the room does NOT currently have an evacuation chair. Please do NOT book a ticket for this event unless you are able to evacuate the building via stairs in an emergency. Paula Rooney was born in Harlow, Essex, in 1965. She lived in Suffolk for a while and eventually settled and raised her family in Cornwall. Aged 55 she went on her first solo trip, interrailing around Europe on her own for a month. It was a life changing trip and her journal became her first book: I hope there’s a kettle in my room.
Two years later she went on her second solo adventure, walking 500 miles on the Camino de Santiago which resulted in her second book and the subject of this talk: Odd poles and baggy trousers on the Camino de Santiago.
Paula’s books have been described as emotional and relatable. Readers often feel like they are travelling with her. A regular speaker in libraries and Women’s Institutes, sharing tales and photos of her solo trips, this talk is perfect for those with a passion for travel, adventure and learning about the world.
Paula has two further books. Tinsel and Tapas: Solo in Andalucia, Searching for Christmas, and All Around Moroccco: A Five Week Solo Adventure.
