David will be painting a sunset scene of boats in the estuary at Burnham, based on an old photograph. He will complete it in stages, giving everyone the opportunity to produce their own versions, with lots of advice and encouragement.
He will be using three colours only – ultramarine blue, raw sienna, and light red, all Winsor and Newton Cotman colours.
David is an experienced tutor in watercolours, having worked as an adult education tutor for a number of years before moving to the Wells area 20 years ago. He has taught people to paint in various locations, including Pakistan, Hampshire, Italy and Somerset. He paints in a loose, impressionistic style, using the medium to produce atmospheric effects.
