Event Details

Do you have a lot of stories to tell, which might never have been told? Do you have an invisible disability or long-term health condition? Could you call yourself an elder? Or simply an adult with a curiosity about writing?

If so, this is your space, and we invite you to take part in a workshop tailored to you, a chance to explore your experiences through writing or image or both, whatever is most enjoyable.

Elspeth, with her letter-writing rack, unusual pens, inks, playful games and inspiration will guide you to write, create or draw a letter to someone in your past – a friend, a family member or even yourself at an earlier age… and then maybe they will write one back? Come with your curiosity!

Adults, any level of writing experience welcome, but aimed at beginners

The workshop is led by Elspeth Penny. Elspeth is a Writer, Director and Arts & health Specialist for 2BU Productions Ltd, which won Most Empowering Marginalised Support Enterprise 2022, Southern Enterprise Awards. She makes award winning audio podcasts, theatre, mixed media work and courses in various things creative, often involving hand-made letters. For Life of Breath Project, 2017-20, she led the creative side of Letter to My Breath, and was a consultant for the end exhibition and events programme: Catch Your Breath. She just released her second audio drama Tobias and Syd, and is currently making her own collage graphic novel memoir, funded by Arts Council England.
